What is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment. It involves applying a therapeutic dose of light to damaged tissue, which leads to a cellular response from the cells, promoting increased production of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) which in turn causes increased energy transfer within the cell.

What conditions may benefit from laser therapy?

Acute:

  • Abscesses
  • Burns
  • Edema
  • Otitis
  • Post-operative healing
  • Soft tissue trauma
  • Sprains and strains

Chronic:

  • Arthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • Periodontal disease
  • Pyoderma
  • ..and many more!

How often does my pet need laser therapy?

The frequency of treatment is dependent on your pets’ condition, therefore will vary patient to patient. As a guide, chronic conditions will be treated on average five times within the first two weeks followed by maintenance treatment which may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on your pet. For post-operative healing, we provide one treatment on the day of the operation, followed by a treatment at the first post-operative check up.

How much does laser therapy cost?

Treatments will vary in cost depending on the complexity of the condition. Please ask the practiceand we can advise you on costs.
